The old fruitmarket building in Glasgow's revitalised Merchant City is a busy and well known arts, leisure and entertainment venue but was sadly lacking in atmosphere when there were no shows or gigs on.

Lightfolio were called in by the client to address this and immediately hit upon a plan to create a setting sunset type of sky for all to sit under that would be punctuated with a myriad of stars.

It is fair to say that this is a 'homage' to Glasgow's Royal Exchange Square, which serves as the inspiration for this scheme. Merchant Square has the same outdoor room feeling that you get at Royal Exchange Square over the winter period when the ceiling of light is in place with the added advantage that it is indoors already so there is no need to worry about the Scottish weather.

The warm pink and yellow mixed with the vivid blue creates a relaxing atmosphere that feels warm and welcoming for all, the stars on top of this create a magical sparkle and add a touch of theatre which suits the venue.
