The railway bridges project was a large scale lighting initiative for Clydebank Rebuilt Ltd, the body responsible for delivering change in Clydebank.
The project involved illuminating six bridges that cut through the town centre. Lightfolio worked closely with Gillespies the landscape architect's to realise their vision for lighting for the bridges, interpreting concepts and delivering workable solutions that were acceptable at all levels to all parties including the local authority who would ultimately become responsible for adopting and maintaining the lighting.
Approximately twelve different luminaires were trialled but the best fitting for this project on many levels was made by Sugg lighting. This was a fully potted, extra low voltage LED fitting, which we modified to enhance its already impressive vandal resistance. The variety of optics offered for the fittings ensured that we could achieve a decent spacing between luminaires but still have an even, vibrant wall wash effect which showed off the texture of the sandstone bridges.
A great deal of work was also put into this project by the installation contractors ETI Scotland Ltd, a local company from Clydebank who carried out all of the civil works as well as the electrical installation. This combination of teamwork made for an extremely good end result that stands the test of time to this day.
