The Kibble Palace Location: The Botanic Gardens, Glasgow Client: Glasgow City Council - Building Services
The approach to lighting adopted for this prestigious restoration project was driven by a desire to minimise the number of fixings to the renovated wrought iron structure.
Projector luminaires were mounted at ground level within the planting and focussed onto special mirrors that bounced the light down into the space like shafts of sunlight piercing the canopy of ferns.
The mirrors were clamped to the ring beams around the glasshouse with neoprene gaskets to protect the specialised paint finish. Ground mounting of projectors simplified maintenance at the same time.
